  Highlights of reports received October 25 through November 1  from 
the Niagara Frontier Region include EVENING GROSBEAK,  RED CROSSBILL, 
BALTIMORE ORIOLE, BL.-GR. GNATCATCHER,  CACKLING GOOSE, PARASITIC 
JAEGER and EARED GREBE.

  After being absent for several years, three encouraging  reports this 
week of EVENING GROSBEAKS at backyard feeders.  24 EVENING GROSBEAKS 
and 14 PINE SISKINS in the Chautauqua  County Town of Sheridan, 18 
EVENING GROSBEAKS and a pair of  RED CROSSBILLS in the Allegany County 
Town of Caneadea, and  4 EVENING GROSBEAKS in the Town of North Collins 
in southern  Erie County.

  October 26, a very late BALTIMORE ORIOLE in a Williamsville  yard in 
Amherst. On the 30th, a late BL.-GR. GNATCATCHER at  Tifft Nature 
Preserve in Buffalo.

  The BOS field trip to the Lake Ontario Plains on October 27  was 
highlighted by 2 CACKLING GEESE and 36 BRANT on Lake  Ontario at Barker 
Park in Somerset. A third CACKLING GOOSE  was on Marshall Road in the 
Town of Yates. Also on the   trip, BALD EAGLE, NORTHERN HARRIER, 
COOPER'S HAWK, ROUGH-
  LEGGED HAWK, MERLIN and AMERICAN PIPIT.

  October 28, a Lake Ontario watch at the Golden Hill State  Park 
lighthouse reported an adult PARASITIC JAEGER plus RED-
  NECKED GREBE, 135 COMMON LOONS, 2 RED-THROATED LOONS and 17  
waterfowl species including NORTHERN PINTAIL, AMERICAN  WIGEON, 
GREEN-WINGED TEAL, BUFFLEHEAD, COMMON GOLDENEYE,  LESSER SCAUP, GREATER 
SCAUP, REDHEAD, WHITE-WINGED SCOTER,  SURF SCOTER, BLACK SCOTER, 
LONG-TAILED DUCK, RED-BR.  MERGANSER, COMMON MERGANSER and HOODED 
MERGANSER, plus 230  DUNLIN and 190 BONAPARTE'S GULLS. Also the 28th, 
another  JAEGER SPECIES plus 2 LITTLE GULLS on Lake Ontario at Dietz  
Road in the Town of Porter.

  October 27 on Lake Erie, at Athol Springs in Hamburg, a  JAEGER 
SPECIES, 2 LITTLE GULLS and 2 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS.

  From the Batavia Waste Water Plant, October 30, 3 EARED  GREBES with 
10 waterfowl species including 242 NORTHERN  SHOVELERS, 24 BUFFLEHEAD, 
9 HOODED MERGANSERS, 52 COMMON  MERGANSERS and 428 RUDDY DUCKS, plus 21 
SNOW BUNTINGS. SNOW  BUNTINGS with 27 HORNED LARKS were also reported 
in the  Genesee County Town of Bethany this week.

  Other reports - a single BONAPARTE'S GULL on the Niagara  River at 
the foot of Sheridan Drive in Tonawanda. In the  Town of Attica, on 
Werner Road, 4 PIED-BILLED GREBES, 5  WILSON'S SNIPE and 2 NORTHERN 
HARRIERS. 15 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS  on a farm in Bethany. On the west side 
of Two Mile Creek  Road in Tonawanda, WILD TURKEY, 2 TUFTED TITMICE, 5 
FOX  SPARROWS and 20 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS. And, 3 more FOX SPARROWS  plus 
EASTERN TOWHEE at a feeder in the Town of Wilson.
